Volunteering at Healthwatch Calderdale

Are you our new volunteer?

Have you always fancied getting involved in volunteering but didn’t know where to start?

Worried you can’t commit to a weekly set day each week?

At Healthwatch Calderdale we have flexible volunteering roles to suit all.

If you have an interest in making a difference in your community by listening to people and finding out if health and care services are working for them, then come and join us.

Our volunteers play a vital role in helping people to have a voice by listening to their experiences.

What sort of things might I do as a volunteer?

There’s a lot to get involved in here at Healthwatch Calderdale

  • Supporting our staff team at our engagement and outreach sessions in the community by listening to people’s experiences of health and social care.
  • You may be interested in helping us to visit services to make sure they are providing people with the right service and support
  • Perhaps you like to research online and help us gather health and social care feedback this way to support us
  • Can you help by talking to your own family, friends, work colleagues or neighbours and gathering their feedback about health and social care services they have used?
  • We need help to raise awareness of the work we do at events or in the community
  • Do you enjoy helping with administration tasks such as proof checking and reading documents or reports, designing surveys, analysing data or helping with our volunteer newsletter?
  • Do you feel you could help by representing us at hospital trust meetings, or the many other meetings we attend?

These are some of the many things you might help us with. Give us a call to discuss what your interest might be. Most of all, come on join us and be part of a happy vibrant team that wants to improve services for all.

Here is a picture of one of our volunteers supporting us a an outreach event.

Here is what our volunteers say about volunteering with us

“I volunteer because I enjoy helping as many people as possible, and I also enjoy working with my colleagues meeting different people and getting out there (in the community at outreach sessions). I gain an awful lot from volunteering, but the main thing is being part of a team contributing to Healthwatch the best I can”  Alex -Healthwatch Calderdale volunteer

Healthwatch Calderdale needs you to be our eyes and ears in the community. We want our ‘Community Engagement and Outreach volunteers’ to make sure we are finding out as much about public opinion as we can. We would like volunteers to go into the communities, talk to family and friends and gather comments about their experience of using health and social care services.  We want to hear about both the good things and what people think could work better.

This role is very flexible and you can commit as much time as works best for you.
