Don't read notes from hospital
February 5, 2025
Was discharged from hospital after suspected heart attack, with discharge notes saying I had large lump on breast and melanomas and needed referral from GP. No contact from surgery so decided to go myself. They said my notes said I was fine, but when I forced their hand, they eventually fond my notes and I finally came away with 2 urgent referrals. The GP was delighted as he rarely gets to diagnose 2 urgent referrals at once. No wonder when no-one reads the notes.
Tests labelled incorrectly

Test samples not labelled correctly so pathologist could not use them. No one bothered phoning to tell me so I was left waiting for results that could not be done
Online access issues

I signed up for Patchs but haven't found it has improved access to health appointments. I think if you have a regular need or medication it's useful but for people who visit once a year then you don't really understand how the system works to your benefit. I still call up for an appointment.
Used to be very good. How things change.

Poor

Whilst the clinicians and HCP are efficient the reception staff are not very helpful. It’s very rare that I call the practice as I’m a strong advocate of self-care where possible, however whenever I have had to call the practice, I’ve always been made to feel as a inconvenience. As a top rate tax payer I expect better value for money!

I was fortunate to move with in the catchment area of this GP surgery and I will be careful not to move away as this is the best surgery I have found in 20 years when I lived in York. All the GPs, Nurse Practitioner's, Nurses and support staff are all helpful compassionate and patient.
