Thank you for your feedback, it has been really helpful in identifying areas which we can explore such as lowering the lighting and using available spaces to offer places for children to rest whilst waiting. I recognise this is especially important in an evening, ahead of school the next day.

I am sorry it was a lengthy wait to have the xray reviewed by a Doctor. I do not have access to individual patient data through the review system, but can share that such delays are usually due to colleagues been required to attend to patients who's care needs are more urgent.

I appreciate that at times the department may look quiet, as the urgent care needs are met in another area of the department.

I will share your feedback with the team, and we will explore opportunities to adjust the lighting and comfort whilst waiting.

I hope that your young person has made, or is on the way to making a full recovery.

Best wishes
Vicki Drummond

Too far

I have to see staff at Huddersfield as many surgeons do not do a clinic in Calderdale.

Good but live nearer to Calderdale

September 26, 2022
Had to go to Huddersfield due to the department I needed treatment at, but I live nearer to Calderdale & have to drive past it to get to Huddersfield. The staff are all good and the treatment is good.
Would be better if the service was closer to home.

I visited Calderdale Royal with a family member & the facilities are much better and the hospital a nicer environment.

Ward 5 - understaffed and in need of upkeep

July 28, 2022
My mum was admitted to the ward and stayed there for several days. It was a very depressing place to be and in desperate need of some repair and upkeep. She was placed in a tiny box room with no TV and the blinds on the small window would not open so she was left to stare at the 4 shabby walls which were depressing and just didn't feel like a nice environment to be in to recuperate.
I often heard other patients asking for help and they were told to wait. The staff were clearly always busy and I always witnessed them working very hard so I'm not saying they were ignoring patients but the ward was clearly understaffed.

Referral to Breast Clinic

April 26, 2022
I was referred by Plane Tree Surgery to the Breast Clinic at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. I was able to choose a date and time that suited me and was seen within 2 weeks. Dr Joyce Graham was very thorough, reassuring me that I had made the right decision in accessing this service. I got lost a couple of times in the hospital and passing staff helped straight away, without been asked and asked if I was OK or if I needed any help - great friendly staff.
