Staff are helpful
March 13, 2023
Have needed them twice in the last 12 months, once for the nurse who is lovely and another time for the GP. I had to wait a bit longer for that as I needed to be seen.
I was able to get an appointment quickly as I booked face to face, and didn't have too long to wait once I arrived for the appointment. The reception staff were friendly and approachable.
I would have a telephone appointment if it was quicker and I didn't need to be seen there.

You can get an urgent appointment but nothing

Been registered here for nearly 15 years always been appalling service. Repeat prescription are a nightmare and anything routine your wasting your time (hours on the phone). To be fair if it's urgent you'll get seen but aftercare non existent
Slow

I was prescribed a new medication by the consultant at the hospital who wrote to my doctor to make the prescription. It took 3 after they received the letter for the doctor to distribute the prescription to the pharmacy.
Keep me safe

The staff are really friendly. I have a learning disability and they keep me safe.
Not patient centered carr

Repeated episodes of reception staff being unhelpful to the point of compromising my heath. Hide bound by their rules yet at the same time non clinical staff making decisions that compromise patient safely.
New emergency appointment system a mess
November 7, 2018
The new emergency appointment booking system has made it all but impossible to access an appointment when you need one, unless you live in Mytholmroyd. If you live Hebden or beyond the road works make it quicker to get to Burnley sometimes and once there the waiting times are sometimes into the hours. This feels a lot like managing demand by making it very hard for many people to access emergency appointments. Reception staff entirely unhelpful and advise that even if you attend drop in you might not be seen if doctors have home visits.
Long wait for appointments

Appointments are available online 3 weeks ahead - useful if you know you are going to be unwell. Most of us don't! Unable to see GP of your choice at shorter notice. This makes for quite a number of failed to attend events. Bad for GPs - no continuity of care of patient.
They've no adopted a system where you describe your system to a non-health care person who decides the urgency of your problem (it'll be key words and if you don't know them, you'll never see a doctor or have a conversation with them) . Even 'expert patients' are amateurs, they are not health care professionals and are unlikely to know what symptoms to watch for in any given condition. So having minimally trained reception staff deciding how ill one is, is dreadful and does not provide the safety net of health care which GP surgeries are meant to provide.
